Put Patchwell in your workflow

Ready-made templates for n8n, a script you can schedule, and step-by-step recipes for Zapier and Make.

Every template below uses the same three safeguards: an Idempotency-Key, so a retry never pays twice; a wait-and-check loop or a signed webhook for long recordings; and an export step that turns the result into a file. Details of each are in the quickstart.

n8n

Import a template (Workflows, then Import from File), then create a Header Auth credential named Patchwell API with name Authorization and value Bearer pw_live_....

Transcribe a recording into notes

Give it a link; it transcribes with speaker labels and names, waits for long recordings, and returns Markdown notes. Swap the last step's format for docx, srt, vtt, txt or csv, and replace the first two steps with any trigger that gives a link (a new file in Drive, an RSS item, a form).

Receive results by webhook

For long recordings, skip the waiting: send requests with callback_url set to this workflow's webhook address. It checks Patchwell's signature on the exact bytes it received, then makes the notes. Deliveries that fail the check are set aside. Paste your secret from GET /v1/account/webhook-secret into the "Verify signature" step. On self-hosted n8n, allow the crypto module with NODE_FUNCTION_ALLOW_BUILTIN=crypto.

A script you can schedule

podcast_to_notes.py turns every episode of a podcast feed into notes. Run it from cron, Task Scheduler or GitHub Actions: episodes already done are skipped, and each episode's id is its Idempotency-Key, so a run that's interrupted and started again never pays twice. Python 3 standard library only.

PATCHWELL_KEY=pw_live_... python podcast_to_notes.py https://example.com/feed.xml notes/ md

Zapier

  1. Trigger: anything that gives a public link to the audio, such as RSS by Zapier "New Item in Feed".
  2. Action: Webhooks by Zapier, POST. URL https://patchwell.io/v1/transcribe, payload type json, data url = the link and, for long recordings, callback_url = the Catch Hook address from step 4. Headers: Authorization = Bearer pw_live_... and Idempotency-Key = the item's id.
  3. Short recordings come straight back: use the text field, or send the whole result to https://patchwell.io/v1/export?format=md with a second POST step.
  4. Long recordings: in a second Zap, use Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Raw Hook, so you get the exact body and headers, then a Code by Zapier step to check Patchwell-Signature with the function from the quickstart.

Make

  1. Add an HTTP, Make a request module: method POST, URL https://patchwell.io/v1/transcribe, body type raw JSON {"url": "...", "callback_url": "..."}, headers Authorization and Idempotency-Key as above. Turn on "Parse response".
  2. For long recordings, start a second scenario with Webhooks, Custom webhook and use its address as callback_url. Turn on "Get request headers" so you can check the signature.
  3. To get a file, POST the result to https://patchwell.io/v1/export?format=docx and pass the downloaded file on to Google Drive, OneDrive or email.

AI agents

Agents connect over MCP (https://patchwell.io/mcp/ with a key, or https://patchwell.io/connect/ for apps that sign in). Results include a short readable summary first, the full data after it, and for transcripts the spots where a speaker label may be wrong, with links to hear them.

What we've tested

The two n8n templates run inside n8n 2.45 against the live API, including the long-recording loop and a tampered webhook that must be rejected. The script runs against a test feed, including a re-run that must not pay again. The Zapier and Make steps use those tools' standard HTTP and webhook modules; we haven't run them inside Zapier or Make ourselves yet. If a step doesn't match what you see, write to patchwell.support@gmail.com.
