Terms of service
Last updated November 6, 2026
These terms govern your use of Patchwell's API, MCP server and website (the "Service"), operated by Aidan McCollum, sole proprietor, doing business as Patchwell ("Patchwell", "we"). By buying credit or calling the Service you agree to them.
1. The Service
Patchwell provides pay-per-call software tools: transcription, data cleaning and web research. Results are produced automatically. We work to make them accurate and we show our evidence (change logs, citations, flags), but results can contain errors. Check them before relying on them for decisions that matter.
2. Accounts and API keys
Your API key is shown once after purchase. Keep it secret; anyone with it can spend your credit. We store keys only in hashed form and can't recover a lost key. Email us and we'll help you rotate it.
3. Credit, prices and billing
- You buy prepaid credit in any whole-dollar amount from $10 to $500 through Stripe. Credit doesn't expire.
- Each call is charged at the price on our pricing section at the time of the call, and every response shows its own cost.
- You're charged only when a call delivers a result. Refused requests, empty research answers and files we can't read are free.
- Long jobs reserve their maximum price when they start and refund the difference when they finish.
4. Refunds
We refund unused credit on request within 30 days of the purchase. Email patchwell.support@gmail.com from the address you paid with. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, usually within 5 to 10 business days. If a call charged you for a result that was clearly broken, tell us and we'll credit it back.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- find, profile, locate, track or identify a person, or gather anyone's contact details, relationships, health, finances or other personal records (the research tool refuses these requests, and repeated attempts suspend the key);
- process files you don't have the right to process;
- attack, probe or overload the Service or anyone else's systems, or point it at private or internal addresses;
- break the law, or help anyone else do so.
We may pause or suspend a key that breaks these rules. Credit on a key suspended for abuse is not refunded.
6. Your content
You keep all rights to what you send us and what the Service returns to you. You give us permission to process it only to provide the Service. See our privacy policy for what we keep.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for the Service to be available and fast, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change prices or features; price changes never apply to calls already made, and we'll announce them on this site first.
8. Disclaimer and liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before it.
